Month in Review: Feb 2016 // It was my BIRTHDAY (wooohooo!), I saw JAMES BAY (yay!) & I started back at UNI (damn!)

As the title of this post says IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY THIS MONTH! I am now no longer a teenager. Shit. Think its about time I updated my About Me page considering it still says I’m 18 LOL I’m just a lazy bean over here and really dont want to put the effort in. Cant the blog fairies come and do it?? But yeah, my birthday weekend was full of Amy either being drunk or hungover and then stumbling to work sunday night like ‘please-someone-stab-me-in-the-head-becuase-it-would-hurt-less-than-this’. But overall I had a great day.

I also went and saw James Bay this month. HE WAS INCREDIBLE! That man’s voice! I swear! LOVE IT! His voice is fantastic (it also helps that he’s hella good looking).

And lastly, I started back at uni just yesterday – by the way happy leap year everyone. It’s not that I’m not happy to be back butttt it’s-so-annoying ARGH! I do hope I do awesomely this semester! *fingers crossed*

NOW onto the stuff you actually care about… THE BOOKS

7171637 (1)20821111 (4) 15753977

  • Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare (4 stars) – I really enjoyed this!! I’m looking forward to finishing the trilogy!
  • The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu (5 stars) – THIS WAS MY FAVOURITE READ OF THE MONTH IT WAS INCREDIBLE AND I SHALL FLAIL! I buddy read it with Trang from Bookidote and the entire experience was a blast! The review was also a lot of fun if you wanna check it out!
  • Legend (Legend #1) by Marie Lu (3 stars) – Legend had the unfortunate chance of being read at the same time I was reading The Young Elites and I couldn’t help comparing them the entire time – and by comparison it just didn’t not stand up. I’m totally planning on finishing the trilogy tho! (Just got to find some bloody time!)

25944381 (1)22328546 (1)23174274 (3)

  • Cruel Crown (Red Queen #0.1-0.2) by Victoria Aveyard (2.5 stars) – I did not like this novella collection that much at all! I just could not get into them and was wanting story lines that progressed the story lines in Red Queen more then I wanted stories about Corina and Farley.
  • Red Queen (Red Queen #1) by Victoria Aveyard (reread) – I upgrade my star rating on this book from 4.5 to 5 stars after this reread! I just love this book so so much!!!
  • Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard (4 stars) – I really really really enjoyed this book but at the same time I was like THE FUCK IS THIS! My feelings are complicated! I guess I just wasn’t expecting the sequel to Red Queen to go how it did and it kind of just threw me. My review should be up within a couple of days.

About Amy

I'm an 20 year old uni student who majors in procrastinating. It's wonderful really - many a great read was read because of it.

I’m not sure I said it before, soooo… Happy belated birthday in case I didn’t! 😉 Looks like you had a great month! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like Legend that much… I’m superexcited about The Young Elites though; I just got a copy of the sequel and hopefully I will find time to read both soon. I’m picking up the Red Queen books first though… A shame to hear the novellas aren’t that interesting though.

I know right! I have a copy of the Legend sequels but I just don’t feel like reading them for now. I’m really excited about The Young Elites though. 😀
And it’s such a shame that I already read Red Queen last year! I’ll take your advice and read the novellas before doing the Red Queen reread; I don’t remember all the details so that might help.

  2. I need to check out James Bay.
The Infernal Devices is one of my favourite trilogies, if not my favourite and I hope you enjoy it a loooot!!
The Young Elites and Legend have been in my TBR for such a long time. I have heard amazing things about both of them, maybe in March it’s time to give them an opportunity…
I’m heswitant to read Glass Sword because I don’t remember that much of Red Queen, i think I remember the main things of the plot, I might give it a try, I haven’t decided yet!
Tomorrow will be up my February Wrap Up were I talk about all the books I read this month 😀

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! It totally freaks me out that I’ll no longer be a teen this year – I mean, 20. That’s so adult, man.
I read the Legend trilogy AGES ago and remember being quite ‘eh’ about it as well. But I’ve heard The Young Elites is so good. Also, I’ve been hearing so many people disappointed with Glass Sword! That doesn’t bode well at all.
Uni officially marks the end of our excessive reading for both of us. It’s so disappointing 😦

50,000 is definitely a big goal, but it’s definitely attainable since you’re on track! Already 5,000 pages in and 10 months to go! 🙂
Happy belated birthday! 😀 And I’m not going to pretend like I’m not jealous that you got to go to a James Bay concert, because he’s so freaking cool. He was robbed at the Grammy’s. 😦 That man has talent! x
