Top Ten Tuesday: Ten 2016 Book To Screen Adaptions I’m Excited For

OH GUYS I AM SO READY FOR 2016 ADAPTATIONS! BRING THEM ON! I was already planning a post about 2016 adaptions for December, but looks like TTT stole my thunder (I’ll probably still do one though). 2016 is shaping up to be a big year for adaptions! I feel like if you become a successful YA author these days you are almost guaranteed a movie deal, which is pretty damn cool. And to think our fangirling selves are the reason these books get so big!

Some of the titles on this list are only rumored to be released 2016 but I’m crossing all my fingers!

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – January 12th

This series is back for a second try at the screen! In case you missed the horror that was The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones – this series already flopped in it’s debut movie in 2013, but The Power’s That Be have decided to give this series another go on the small screen. The cast looks extremely hot and I’m excited to see how much better the book is going to be as a TV series instead of shoved all in one movie.

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey – January 14th

I can’t believe I still haven’t read this book! I have every intention to get it read before I see the movie! The trailer to this movie seem INSANE! I love Chloe Grace Moretz and I think she going to be incredible as the face of this new franchise!

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes – March 18th

Okay I AM SO EXCITED!! This is one of my favourite reads from this year!It is literally soul destroying, and absolutely beautiful! Emilia Clark and Sam Claflin are playing the two main characters. KHALEESI + FINNICK!!!!! HELL YEAH! You can read my review of Me Before You here!

Allegiant (Divergent #3) by Veronica Roth – March 18th

I have been avoiding trailers of this like the plague! Again another series I’ve never read, so I have no idea what’s going to happen in the book so I want to go into the movie blind! Who knows I may be inspired to finally read the series before March 18th!

The BFG by Roald Dahl – July 1st

WHO DIDN’T READ THIS WHEN THEY WERE A KID!!! The original 1989 movie is a lot of fun, but I’m excited to see the reboot!

A Monster Call by Patrick Ness – October 14th

This list is just kind of turning into books I’ve never read that are becoming movies! Again another book I plan to read before I see the movie! I’ve STILL never read a Patrick Ness book! I have two of his books on my shelf, I just need to get to them already!! Liam Neeson’s playing the monster – it’s going to be incredible!

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them by J.K. Rowling – November 18th

I’m just going to say something and then you can all judge me (it’s okay I judged me) I didn’t even know this book existed until I read about the movie! There. I said it. Now you may through rocks at the rock I’ve been living under! I MUST READ THIS BOOK NOW!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs – December 25th

Another book I still haven’t read but have every intention to! Its okay I still have over a year to read it! Eva Green gets a million ticks as playing Miss Peregrine, she plays amazing creepy characters!

No Confirmed Release Date

Fallen by Lauren Kate

Now I think I speak for a lot of us when I say I read Fallen in my ‘Twilight’ years, because of this I have to say I’m a tad skeptic about whether or not this book will make a great adaptions. It doesn’t really fit with the current dystopia / high fantasy adaptions and is more along the lines of… well… Twilight. I’m not really familiar with any of the actors/actress but I’m definitely planning on checking this out once it’s released.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Maybe this is the most wishful thinking I’ve ever wished but I heard that this may be a fall 2016 release! On one hand I’m like no way, but on the other hand I’m like crossing everything!

This was such a fun TTT, I can’t to read what everyone else is excited for in 2016! Let me know below 🙂

I'm an 20 year old uni student who majors in procrastinating. It's wonderful really - many a great read was read because of it.

Fallen has been planned for AGES. Apparently, they’ve finished filming, and Lauren Kate has seen the finished (?) product, but we have no trailer or release date. I swear I’ve been waiting for this like, 3 years 😛

  2. Me Before You is one of my best reads, too, and it made me sob until 3am! That’s crazy and I do home the movie will be as good or even better as the book!!! 😀

I am no fan of how Allegiant ended but I am also looking forward for its finale movie. I kinda hope it will end in a different way? #WishfulThinking 😀

    BTW, here’s my TTT: 🙂

  3. I’m also looking forward to The 5th Wave, Fantastic Beasts and A Monster Calls!

I’ve read The 5th Wave and quite enjoyed it, but I have a very soft spot for dystopian/alien invasion-themed books so I might be biased. I’m with you, though; I think Chloe Grace Moretz is going to be amazing. ❤

  4. Wow! A very nice list and very informative. I’d heard of a few, but not all of these yet, not even the Fantastic Beasts one. I’ll have to be looking out for that one. ^.^ Very excited!

Oh, thank goodness. A year to read ‘Miss Peregrine’s’? Good. I was thinking ‘what did I miss that I didn’t know this was a movie.’ :p Now, I’m even more excited to read it!

  5. THEY ARE MAKING A SHATTER ME MOVIE OR SOMETHING??! I’m sorry, I’m kind of screaming right now, because I had NO idea!!!! Wow, I’d love that to become true. And I’d love to know who will play Warner, too 😛
I can’t wait for The 5th Wave, you should read the book before the movie, if you have some time! It was a chilling read 🙂 And read Patrick Ness, too!! I only read one book by him (More than this), but I need to read more. He’s a fantastic storyteller, I think! 🙂

  6. I’m actually really curious about Shadowhunters, I’m not as huge a fan of the universe that I used to be, but I’m curious to see if it end ups a train wreck like the movie, yikes! Miss Peregrine’s could end up being good, I think it’s in good hands, so I’d be willing to check it out. I love the 5th Wave, the adaptation makes me nervous, but I want to see what they’ve done with it nonetheless.

  7. Haha you’re totally right, we have such similar lists! Great minds think alike to the max. XD
Oh my gosh I just know Me Before You will be amazing. Sam Claflin is perfect for the role of Will and Emilia Clarke seems like the perfect fit for Louisa too!! Ahhh I can’t wait for this movie—and all the other movies on this list, of course. 😉 Awesome list!
