Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas

5 stars

I am so, so, glad I decided to re-read this series, there was so many things in this book I had just completely forgotten! For example, THAT IT IS EVEN MORE AMAZING THAN THRONE OF GLASS!

Oh. My. Goddess. Can we just start with ALL THE FEELS. So you know how we, as book fanatics, use the term emotional rollercoaster pretty liberally, I just wanted to make sure you all understand that I have never meant it more than right now…

You know the books you connect with so well on an emotional level that you feel it in the back of your heart and the pit of your stomach?? Well I honestly think, Crown of Midnight takes the cake. There were times in this book I was so, so happy and then like five pages later, my chest froze in horror and sadness. My soul just Could Not Handle All The Feels!

This book also dives into the story a lot more, Throne of Glass set up the characters, the world and Celaena becoming the kings Champion, but Crown of Midnight really starts to get into the thick of the main storyline behind the series. I loved watching all the little hints and easter eggs, start to come together and then finally having the ‘Ah Huh!’ moment when it all made sense. Two huge things were revealed in this novel, I will not spoil anything but they’re both massively important elements to how this series is going to play out. I kind of totally forgot about one of them and when it was revealed I DIED! It was like AMAZINGNESS! You’ll just have to read it to find out… (even though I’m like 90% sure almost everyone has already read these books).

I feel like in Crown of Midnight we get more POV chapters other than Celaena then we got in Throne of Glass, which of course means MORE CHAOL AND DORIAN!!! YASSSS! But seriously everyone has their own storylines going on in this novel, which branch out from each other but still intertwine. I think, (if I remember Heir of Fire right, which chances are I’m not, but) that these storylines will continue to expand apart – but in a good way, like a so much story, so much awesome!!!

Overall, Me ❤ Crown of Midnight! Bloody Amazing (bloody, get it, assassin – bloody – hehe!) Utter Perfection! I love it so much I could die!!!!!!! I’m so glad I can just continue on with Heir of Fire and then (YAYAAYAY) QUEEN OF SHADOWS!

It is! It makes me want to update my goodreads more haha. Oh no, I liked it, but I think because I’m not a huge fan of Celaena & Chaol together, the romance didn’t really work for me lol. I really like how the story is progressing overall though ^^
