I do not possess the language to tell you all how much I love this book! This is my fourth time reading this book (every year I reread the series before the new instalment is released) and still I love it just as much as my first time! I actually just recently learned that the Throne of Glass series is apparently one of those series where people either LOVE IT or they really don’t like it. I can’t even comprehend how you couldn’t like this series (maybe if you weren’t into YA high fantasy, but other than that I don’t get it), but whatever….

This series contains the most well written characters I have ever come across. Celaena is AMAZING! She is so tough and strong and yet so authentic! She can posture and be conceited at times and at others she is so compassionate and vulnerable. She’s lived through so much and still manages to have hope. It’s what makes her so special she’s not perfect yet you wouldn’t change a thing about her. Plus she may be the most kick ass heroin I’ve ever read – her skills are amazballs!

Oh how I love Dorian and Chaol! I swear Maas must be a wizard because she manages to write essential, a love triangle where I love both guys so, so much and can totally understand the protagonist’s indecision.

Dorian is the biggest sweetheart! I love how he falls do hard and fast for Celaena – that he didn’t mean to like her but her amazingness just took him by surprise. Dorian is so, so sweet and kind! Bless his beautiful soul!!! I love how the feelings between Chaol and Celaena, not only sneak up on them, but on us as the reader as well. Suddenly you’re like ‘since when did I love Chaol so much? Because now I want nothing more than for him and Celaena to be together and happy’. I L.O.V.E Chaol, he has been part of my Book Boyfriend Herom for yearrrsss! I love all the looks and the unsaid words and ALL THE FEELS! AGHHH!! YASSS! I just love him, I just do!

After reading The Assassin’s Blade, the collection of prequel novellas about Celaena’s life, so many small details you might have (and I had previously) just skipped over as little nothing titbits about Celaena’s life before going to Endovier make so much sense! It was a surprise to see how much many little details I’d missed previously just because I’d never read the prequel. If you’ve never read this series (how?) and you want to, I would definitely suggest reading the prequel first.

As I mentioned above Maas is a wizard, her writing style is flawless, she is able to write fight scene that make you feel like you are living them. She is able to create emotion that makes your chest ache and cause you to sit in public with a big uncontrollable smile on your face. She is able to build a magical world so elaborate and realistic you have no problem visualising it! I love Maas’ work, she is QUEEN!

Overall, if your one of the like 10% of readers who still haven’t pick up this book I PROMISE YOU IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! I love this series and I loved reliving this book. I can’t wait to get to Crown of Midnight!!

  1. Great review! 🙂
So many people loved this book so much, but sadly I didn’t like it as much as everyone else.
It took me FOREVER to actually get into it. I didn’t start to really like it until the last 150 pages. I’m still going to continue to the next book though, because I did like at the end and want to see what happen next. Everyone says Crown of Midnight is even better.
