In case you live under a rock – hey no judgement I’m sure it’s a lovely rock – BookTube-A-Thon is hosted by Ariel Bissett (who has her own YouTube channel) on the offical BookTube-A-Thon channel, and is a week long readathon in which you try your damnest to read 7 books in 7 days, there are certain book challenges and such – here’s my post on which books I choose for each challenge.
So BookTube-A-Thon has come to a close, and I am so happy to brag that I managed to read 5 out of the 7 books!!! That’s better then I honestly thought I was going to go, I was sure I was going to be struggling hard core to get to 3 books and look at me eliminating 5 from my TBR like a boss.
Below I have a little diary I updated at the end of each day with how I did for BookTube-A-Thon that day:
I started and finished That Summer by Sarah Dessen. I choose That Summer for the challenge I wasn’t suppose to put the book down, but that last like 13 pages in and I’d already forgotten that rule. I didn’t particularly enjoy this book to be honest, I found it kind of dull and maybe even boring.

I had a lot to do on Tueaday that didn’t involve reading 😦 poo! I had Uni until late afternoon, then I had some readings for classes and it was my turn to go grocery shopping (me and my sister take it in turns – since we both legit hate doing it so much!). I did however start reading The Day of The Triffids – it didn’t captivated me and the writing wasn’t the usual style I’m used to, but I really want to finish this book since it’s my dad’s favourite and have decided to read a little bit a day until I’m done. I also started Tiger Lily but I didn’t make it very far into that either. But the start is so damn good and I’m excited!!
Pages read: 50 (total: 280)
I had another busy day today! I again tried to read a bit of The Day of the Triffids but I just couldn’t get into a flow so I had the idea *lightbulb* to listen to the audiobook as I read along and it ended up helping me get into the book so much faster! I also read a bit more of Tiger Lily – still absolutely loving it! I’m actually angry at myself for letting this book sit unread on my shelf for like 8 months!!
Pages read: 140 (total: 420)
From late afternoon onwards I was free and planned to do nothing it read. I wanted to read a decent chunk of The Day of the Triffids and, if I could manage it, finish Tiger Lily. TDOFT is starting to pick up, it’s getting more exciting, but there are a couple aspects of this book I’m really not enjoying. I did finish Tiger Lily – I’m like half, ‘of course it had to end that way’, half, ‘why oh why oh why did it have to end that way!!!’ Oh the feels 😦
Pages read: 253 (total: 673)
Friday Day 5:
I had the whole day free today to read but I actually didn’t end up reading to much. I started Atlantia and got majority of the way through, I’ll definently finish it tomorrow. I listened to a bit more of TDOFT I’m really starting to enjoy the ending.
Pages read: 283 (total: 956)
Today I finally finished The Day of the Triffids! YAY! I liked the ending way better then majority of the rest of the book and it was way easier to fly through. I also finished Atlantia, after the big build up to the end I found it really disappointing. All that anticipation for not that much. I passed my Goodreads reading challenge goal today aswell!!! I was meant to sit down and write a whole bunch of reviews today – but that didn’t happen and instead I started on Paperweight, which I got about half way through.
Pages read: 209 (total: 1165)
So today I woke up late and then spent the day out, not getting home till like 7:30ish. But that means nothing because I had a goal! I had 171 pages to read to have read 5 books in BookTubeAThon! I didn’t care if I had to be up at 5:20am the next morning all I cared about was finishing those pages and did I do it? HELL YES I DID! Yay! 5 books completed!!
Pages read: 171 (total: 1336)
- Number of Books Read: 5/7
- Number of Pages: 1,336
- Favourite Book: I really enjoyed both Tiger Lily and Paperweight but they are both so different to each other it’s hard to choose which one I liked better… Probably Paperweight, Stevie is a Sass Queen plus this book contained all the feels.
- Least Favourite Book: That Summer. I just did not like it
- Favourite Challenge: Someone else’s favourite book. I must admit it took me forever to read The Day of the Triffids, and I wouldn’t necessarily say I liked it to much, but I definitely enjoyed it – it is so, so interesting and so well put together. I like that I’ve finally read my dad’s favourite book.
- Would I Compete in this Read-A-Thon Again: YES! I had so much fun, I’d definitely do it again I loved watching all the BookTube-A-Thon posts on YouTube and reading everyones’ posts on the Blogosphere. I will certainly be doing it again next time – is it an annual or bi-annual readathon? I have no idea??
