A Darker Shade of Magic (A Darker Shade of Magic #1) by V.E Schwab & Victoria Schwab

Release date: 24th February

synopsis from goodreads

Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit.
Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London – but no one speaks of that now.
Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to another world for her ‘proper adventure’.
But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive — trickier than they hoped.

Why the wait is killing me…

I have never read a book like A Darker Shade of Magic and I think it’s going to be absolutely amazing!

The Sin Eater’s Daughter (The Sin Eater’s Daughter #1) by Melinda Salisbury

Release Date: Feb 24th

Synopsis off goodreads

Seventeen-year-old Twylla lives in the castle. But although she’s engaged to the prince, Twylla isn’t exactly a member of the court.
She’s the executioner.
As the Goddess embodied, Twylla instantly kills anyone she touches. Each month she’s taken to the prison and forced to lay her hands on those accused of treason. No one will ever love a girl with murder in her veins. Even the prince, whose royal blood supposedly makes him immune to Twylla’s fatal touch, avoids her company.
But then a new guard arrives, a boy whose easy smile belies his deadly swordsmanship. And unlike the others, he’s able to look past Twylla’s executioner robes and see the girl, not the Goddess. Yet Twylla’s been promised to the prince, and knows what happens to people who cross the queen.
However, a treasonous secret is the least of Twylla’s problems. The queen has a plan to destroy her enemies, a plan that requires a stomach-churning, unthinkable sacrifice. Will Twylla do what it takes to protect her kingdom? Or will she abandon her duty in favor of a doomed love?

I’m impatiently waiting because…

Ahh hello Twylla has the same super  power as Rouge off X-Men but it’s set in a castle and there’s a hot solider. How could you not be waiting for this book?

When My Heart Was Wicked by Tricia Stirling

Release Date: 24th of Feb

Synopsis from goodreads

“I used to be one of those girls. The kind who loved to deliver bad news. When I colored my hair, I imagined it seeping into my scalp, black dye pooling into my veins.
But that was the old Lacy. Now, when I cast spells, they are always for good.”
16-year-old Lacy believes that magic and science can work side by side. She’s a botanist who knows how to harness the healing power of plants. So when her father dies, Lacy tries to stay with her step-mother in Chico, where her magic is good and healing. She fears the darkness that her real mother, Cheyenne, brings out, stripping away everything that is light and kind.
Yet Cheyenne never stays away for long. Beautiful, bewitching, unstable Cheyenne who will stop at nothing, not even black magic, to keep control of her daughter’s heart. She forces Lacy to accompany her to Sacramento, and before long, the “old” Lacy starts to resurface.
But when Lacy survives a traumatic encounter, she finds herself faced with a choice. Will she use her powers to exact revenge and spiral into the darkness forever? Or will she find the strength to embrace the light?

I must have it now…

I love bad girl turned good books. But I’m kind of hoping that she has to be bad and evil for a little while in the story. Can’t wait!!!

Those first two books are two I have been excited for awhile now. I just got vicious by V.E. Schwab the other day on my iPad so I am looking forward to reading that and hopefully will enjoy her writing. That’s last book I actually hadn’t heard of though but it really reminds me of Half Bad which I loved so I would be interested in checking that also. Thanks for informing me about that one 😃

  2. These ALL sound amazing, and they are all definitely on my TBR! I haven’t read any books by Victoria Schwab yet (I know she writes the Archived series, which I want to read, too!) because I just haven’t got around to it yet! Hopefully this will be my first one! I want to read ‘Sin-Eater’s Daughter’ too, but I’m REALLY excited to read ‘When My Heart Was Wicked’ – THAT sounds so good to me!! Good choices ;D Mine!
